Neuropsychology

Cancers—whether or not they directly involve the brain—can have a significant impact on cognitive health. Both the disease itself and its treatments may affect memory, attention, processing speed, word retrieval, executive functioning, and emotional well-being. These challenges can interfere with daily activities and reduce quality of life, not only during treatment but also throughout survivorship.

Clinical Neuropsychology is the scientific study of thinking abilities, behavior, and emotions to better understand an individual’s brain-based functioning in the context of their unique life circumstances. A neuropsychological evaluation provides a detailed profile of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, helps identify potentially modifiable factors affecting daily functioning, and offers targeted recommendations—such as strategies and interventions—to support improved functioning and overall quality of life.
Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for adults with a history of:
  • Primary brain tumors (e.g., gliomas, meningiomas)
  • Metastatic brain disease
  • Cancers treated with potentially neurotoxic therapies (e.g., chemotherapy, immunotherapy, SCT)
Services offered include:
  • Baseline and longitudinal cognitive monitoring
  • Pre- and post-treatment cognitive assessments
  • Personalized recommendations and resources to optimize quality of life
  • Support with planning return-to-work or daily functioning
  • Collaboration and consultation with oncology, neurology, and rehabilitation teams
  • Differential diagnosis of impact of cancer and cancer treatment vs. other neurological conditions
